Join us for Science 4 Friends’ knowledge exchange workshop series to create meaningful activities and network with youth workers.

During this knowledge exchange workshop series, you will take part in a variety of Science 4 Friends activities, giving you the tools to understand the science behind them. You will then connect and collaborate with other youth workers to codevelop your own research-informed activity to support the social and emotional wellbeing of the young people within your own organisation.

In addition, you will be connected with mental health researchers based at the University of Birmingham. They will be available to answer your questions on what science says about young peoples’ brains and their mental health, to support you with your youth work practice.

The training series will be held at the University of Birmingham taking place over three days, approximately 5 weeks apart. To complete the training, you will have to attend all three sessions.

Session 1 - 9:30 - 15:30 Tuesday 28th March

Session 2 - 9:30 - 15:30 Tuesday 9th May

Session 3 - 9:30 - 15:30 Tuesday 13th June

We intend to make this training course as inclusive as possible, and we encourage all types of youth workers to attend including: full-time, part-time, senior, sessional, volunteer youth workers, and those currently completing training to become a youth worker.

In addition, if you will not otherwise be paid by an organisation to attend the training course, i.e. if you are a sessional worker or part-time worker outside of your scheduled hours, we will cover your standard hourly rate for attending the course. This will be decided on a case-by-case basis during an informal phone call with our team.
