Are you interested in how indoor and outdoor nature-connection activities boost health and wellbeing?

Would you like to learn how to deliver a simple nature-based activity to individuals your organisation supports?

Join Natural England in partnership with ecobirmingham and Birmingham Settlement for a free Train the Trainer session to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver a nature-based activity to the groups and communities you support.

  •  ecobirmingham will deliver two free Train the Trainer sessions at Birmingham Settlement’s Nature and Wellbeing Centre at the tranquil Nature & Wellbeing Centre at Edgbaston Reservoir.
  • Each participant will attend one session to learn practical skills such as seed sowing and growing, enabling you to replicate nature-based activities in your own settings to support the mental health and wellbeing of service users and communities.
  • Participants will be taught how to ensure the nature-based activity can be adapted to suit service user needs and interests.
  • No greenspace or prior experience is necessary—balcony and windowsill planting will be covered.

Resources and a follow-up support and networking session will be provided to help deliver your own sessions and share experiences.

Please note:

  • Each trainee will be asked to deliver at least one session in their own setting before mid-March 2025, as this will help us assess the project’s impact and support organisations going forwards.
  • Project currently only open to Birmingham-based VCFSEs providing mental health and wellbeing support (could also include community/youth centres offering support).
  • If oversubscribed, priority will be given to underrepresented organisations and those without current access to nature-based resources or greenspace.

The sessions will be held on either Weds 16th October 2024, or Weds 13th November 2024.
