Overview

This course will help managers in charities to have crucial, often difficult conversations in a timely, professional and successful way.

Managers can dodge difficult discussions and hope they go away.  They don’t and often the problem gets worse to the detriment of the individuals and the organisation.

This practical course and individual mentoring session will give you the tools to prepare, structure and deal with crucial conversations that will benefit you and your organisation.

How to handle conversations that involve conflict, high emotion, challenge relationships or loss of respect

Examine three typical scenarios that happen in our sector that need to be resolved

Ideas for meeting preparation and emotional intelligence

Explore ways to structure the discussion

Use PRICE model to hold poor performance meetings

Discuss to manage emotional outbursts

Learn how to give bad news with learning from Cancer patients and refugees about what is really needed

Look at ways to minimise the need for difficult conversations without avoiding them.
