How can we create change and be empowered to take the next (or first steps) in our environmental journey?

At the Environment and Energy Network on Tuesday 18 June, 1pm – 2.30pm we will be joined by Dr Stephanie Boyle, Eco Together Co-ordinator, Birmingham who will discuss the Eco Together programme.

Stephanie said: “When I retired from my work as a clinical psychologist a couple of years ago, I was looking for a way to channel my skills and energy constructively. I decided that the climate emergency was the issue of the century and began looking for climate education tools to promote. I surveyed the terrain of the climate action movement and settled on Eco Together because of the quality of the programme and it's inclusive nature. The underlying values are a good fit with my own.”

Eco Together is a climate empowerment programme which helps activate people to take the next (or first) steps in their environmental journey by using their unique powers to make a positive difference. It's designed to run in small, supportive, self-directed groups a bit like book clubs. It's time-limited, six sessions on specific topics and the groups meet at a frequency that suits them, typically monthly or once a fortnight. All the materials and instructions on how to run a group are free and can be found on the Eco Together website. No special training is needed - you can just pick up and go!

The first group in Birmingham was hosted by Shakti Women in Jan 2023 and was celebrated with an Eco Together Brum first birthday party at the Eco Hub on Witton Lakes in January this year.

Our usual updates on energy bills, policy, funding, consultations will also take place.
