Charity Meetup is a skill-sharing and facilitated networking event for the third sector. It is fun and welcoming but worthwhile attending. You will have the opportunity to learn from speakers and foster connections to give and get support. We meet virtually every 2nd Tuesday of each month and hold online seminars and in-person events quarterly too. A limited number of free tickets are available to charities (NFPs, CICs etc.) and volunteers for our monthly virtual events.

Everyone involved with the third sector is welcome to attend, but this event will be especially beneficial for anyone wishing to explore building collaborations with, or signposting to, other charities.

Agenda:

09.55 - Meeting opens

10.00 - Welcome and chatbox intros

10.05 - Sector showcase: Suzanne McArthur, Head of Community Development and Partnerships, The Hospice Charity Partnership

Suzanne is from The Hospice Charity Partnership, previously known as Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and John Taylor Hospice prior to their merger in August 2021.

Historically, hospices within the Midlands have always competed for supporters and funding. When the pandemic hit, Birmingham St Mary’s, John Taylor Hospice and Marie Curie Hospice, West Midlands, revisited their processes and positions within the wider healthcare system.

They concluded that a collaboration would better serve patients, staff and supporters without compromising the care offered, making their services more accessible, cost-efficient and sustainable in a time when there was so much uncertainty.

Suzanne will outline how the three hospices joined forces, the benefits of doing so and how The Hospice Charity Partnership are working in partnership with local organisations to reach marginalised groups and ensure accessibility to hospice services is improved and that care delivered is meaningful for the diversity of needs within the City.
