Campaign Bootcamp is hosting a free 6-10 week programme for an already formed group of folks aged 60+ to learn the skills and tools necessary to run a successful campaign on an issue of your choice.

(The training will be adapted to group needs. We could run a 2.5 hour session each week for 6 - 10 weeks, and we hope to begin delivering this training in October.)

Campaign Bootcamp is a charity that trains people to campaign on issues that matter to them. We recognise that people aged 60 and above face a specific set of barriers, such as ageist stereotypes, confidence with technology, access to healthcare, and so much more as they grow older. Having run a successful Age Activism 4 month training earlier this year, we are now ready to offer another!

We would like to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence of older people, to be part of a campaign on a social issue of your choice - e.g. face to face GP appointments, the lack of NHS dentists, free personal care, state pension changes, the take up of pension credits, housing, LGBTQ+ rights and liberation, climate change, TV licences, scams and digital inclusion or ageism - we want to support you and your cause.

Working together, we can turn the things that are problematic into campaigns that make society more fair for everyone.

What will the training look like?

We will guide a group of participants through a series of online sessions to help them use their life experience to campaign about an issue that concerns them.

As a group, you will:

Review your campaign strategy (clarifying goals, targets & tactics, examining power & how it works, and identifying allies)
Explore different ways to get people to listen to you
Understand how your group works and who does what
Develop plans to keep going for the long hall

This will all be offered alongside:

Developing your technology and computer skills, with pre-session training & in-session support.

You’ll be guided through the learning in an accessible, supportive and friendly environment. We can provide you with internet access so you can interact with us on your computer, and hire out any equipment you might need to get online.

The training will be adapted to group needs. We could run a 2.5 hour session each week for 6 - 10 weeks, and we hope to begin delivering this training in October.
