The YEF Neighbourhood Fund sets out to test different models and approaches to community engagement to better understand how, where and why it supports improved outcomes for children at risk of becoming involved in violence.

The Fund is currently being delivered in the Lozells and Newtown areas of the City. As part of this activity, the University of Birmingham are seeking to recruit and train new Community Researchers to talk to local people about their community and their experiences/understandings of youth violence within it.

All newly recruited Community Researchers will receive free, accredited training before undertaking up to three research interviews, supported by professional researchers. Community Researchers will be paid for the interviews that they undertake.

To become a Community Researcher on this project you must be over the age of 18 and should live in either Lozells or Newtown (those with close connections to the area i.e. family/work, may be considered).

Information events are being held both online and in-person on 16th November 2021. To find out more please visit https://www.bvsc.org/yef-community-researchers
