Volunteer Maths Tutor
There is an opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis with the 12-year-old boy who was struggling to keep up with maths due to dyscalculia. Tutoring sessions are proposed to take place at Wheelers Ln, Academy Kings Heath Birmingham.
Sessions would typically entail the pupil coming out of the classroom and working with his tutor on a one-to-one basis for one session per week in order to reinforce learning.
The pupil is currently supported by the school SENCO and has a private tutor who works with him one session per week within the school environment. Both the school and the tutor will be in a position to give guidance and support to anyone interested in the voluntary maths tutor position.
The pupil is a pleasant young man who is eager to learn but really struggled at times with dyscalculia and working memory.
Creativity and patience along with a sound grounding in mathematics and secondary education curriculum are the only requirements for any interested applicants.
This opportunity would be equally suitable for anyone seeking the experience of working in a school/teaching or someone who simply enjoys mathematics and supporting young people to achieve and succeed.
Applicants will be required to undertake a full/enhanced DBS.
