Volunteer Children's Mentor
Who is Our Place?
Our Place is a mentoring scheme that supports children, young people and parents/carers on a one to one or small group basis.
The support which we offer is tailored to meet the needs of the individuals. We can offer support for a whole range of issues from anxiety, anger, family breakdown and loss to self-esteem and identity.
All of our mentors are trained in accordance with The Mentoring and Befriending Approved Provider Standards, are DBS checked (formerly CRB) and receive regular support and supervision.
Our mentoring support usually operates on a weekly basis for 9-12 months for children and young people and 6-12 weeks for parents, depending on the situation. The length and nature of support are determined at the beginning of the mentoring relationship.
About the role
We are looking for a volunteer mentor to join the Our Place Mentoring Scheme. We are looking for someone who is a caring, responsible, adult who serves as a listener, critical friend and role model to primary aged children, young people, adults or parents. The volunteer would need to help to ensure that the mentee develops important life skills by working through challenges together, developing emotional well-being and healthy relationships.
Our Place Mentors enable their mentee to be exposed to new opportunities and a wide array of resources enabling and equipping them to make positive change.
