Gain a new skill and help Guide Dogs ensure people with sight-loss don't lose out on life
Would you like to learn a new skill to ensure people with sight loss don't lose out on life? Guide Dogs are urgently appealing for sighted guide volunteers across Birmingham who could support someone with sight loss to get out and about. This could be grabbing a coffee, visiting a local attraction or simply getting some fresh air. Volunteers undergo accredited training and learn to safely guide someone with sight loss, navigating environments and building self-confidence - all whilst increasing social interaction with those who may not otherwise wish to leave their home. The role is flexible, can fit around you but we do ask for a commitment of a few hours weekly or fortnightly and you must be over 18. We also work to match people based on their interests, so whatever activity you choose to do will be enjoyable for both of you.
