The Ackers Adventure Board are seeking to appoint a number of new Directors to ensure it has the capacity and skills to oversee and support the organisation.

Brief background

The Ackers offers the widest range of outdoor educational activities on any one site in the Midlands. These include dry slope skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, canoeing, climbing, bell boats, jungle challenge, archery, bushcraft, orienteering, team building, and a 20m tower with abseiling, a fan descender and zip wires. As well as activity-based courses, it runs first aid courses and the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. There is also a self-catering residential centre and meeting rooms available to hire. The centre is registered with the relevant National Governing Bodies.

Director roles

The roles are unpaid voluntary positions.

Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings, but also to participate in the life of the organisation between board meetings, supporting the staff team and acting in an ambassadorial role for the organisation.

Board meetings are currently held monthly.

Positions are advertised for a period of 3 years (term may be renewed).
