The Community and Volunteer Support Worker (CVSW) role is to connect and build relationships with other community groups, enabling the provision of assistance, support and encouragement for the continuing and increasing needs of the café service users, its volunteers, and their carers.

The post is part-time (18 hours per week) working normally Monday, Tuesday and Friday each week 9am to 3pm but with some flexibility and funded until September 2023. Salary will be the Birmingham Living Wage.

Prior to Covid 19 Café Oasis was a busy non-profit making community café at Sutton Coldfield United Reformed Church staffed by employed and voluntary staff, some of whom have learning disabilities. The café had a warm & welcoming environment, provided pastoral and physical support for the many, mainly older people who attend the Church Centre, supporting the elderly customers to live independently. We also assisted small charities in their development, by providing meeting rooms and refreshments. We are now reopening and building up our services again.

The Community and Volunteer Support Worker role is central to helping us to provide support for both our café users and volunteers, some of whom have learning difficulties. In this role you will connect and build relationships with other community groups enabling the provision of assistance, support and encouragement for the continuing and increasing needs of the café service users, its volunteers, and their carers.

We had developed links with smaller charities such as the Blind Veterans, providing meeting facilities with lunch. Part of the role of the CVSW was to further develop similar relationships, forming new links.
