Home-Start is Birmingham's leading family support charity, working in local communities right across the city. We are looking to train local people as home-visiting volunteers, who offer weekly emotional and practical support to parents and their children in their own homes.

Our volunteers come from all backgrounds with a vast range of experiences. Some are retired and want to support their local community, others are looking to use their volunteer experience to enhance their career prospects, and others simply want to use their experiences of parenting to help other families.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Home-Start.
Childhood is precious and something that all children should be free to enjoy. By joining our movement of volunteers, you'll be helping to give children across Birmingham the childhood they deserve.

For over 30 years, local Home-Start volunteers have been offering emotional and practical support to families.

Why? Because parenting can be hard for so many reasons. From dealing with poverty and isolation to poor mental health and relationship breakdowns. All these issues can affect a parent’s ability to cope.

And this is where Home-Start steps in.

Our volunteers who live in our local communities offer a mixture of practical and emotional, non-judgemental support, for however long a family needs them. More than anything, our volunteers are there as a regular, friendly face, an extra pair of hands and a shoulder to cry on. Could this be you?
