Birmingham International Dance Festival 2022 Volunteering

Birmingham International Dance Festival is back from 17 June - 3 July 2022.

BIDF Volunteers support our dance-packed outdoor events and exciting work touring around the city centre and to community settings. It’s about connecting people with great dance, inspiring local people and welcoming new audiences.

There is a wide range of volunteer roles across our outdoor festivals weather it’s chaperoning artists, supporting marketing or guiding audiences – all of which are vital to its success.

BIDF Volunteers have a particular focus on our outdoor spaces. Locations include:

Birmingham City Centre – Centenary Square, Victoria Square, Chamberlain Square and Brindley Place
Handsworth Park, North Birmingham
Outdoor Theatre, Midlands Arts Centre & Cannon Hill Park, South Birmingham

Supporting the BIDF festival team, activities will include:

Greeting and chaperoning artists
assisting with event and performance setups with our Programming Team
stewarding events and working alongside our Front of House team
assisting with family activities and participatory projects
supporting marketing with social media and flyering
welcoming festival visitors of all backgrounds

This is an opportunity to be involved in a vibrant large-scale city-wide event and meet artists and performers from around the world. You can develop new skills to add to your CV, experience ‘behind the scenes of a major festival and meet new people. References will be available following your time with us.

If you are 18+, passionate and enthusiastic about dance and the arts, enjoy working with a wide range of people and have a “can-do” approach, then we’d love to hear from you.

Year 10 Work Experience Placements

Our Year 10 pupils (aged 14 and 15) are looking for local opportunities to volunteer and learn about how different organisations are run. This helps develop their confidence and employability skills required for future employment. This is for 4 days Monday 18th to Thursday 21st July 2022.
Volunteer Independent Visitor for National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS)

An Independent Visitor is a volunteer who befriends and develops a long-term friendship with a young person in care. This can involve helping young people develop new interests, skills and hobbies or going on outings such as to the cinema, bowling or just a walk in the park. The volunteers are called ‘Independent Visitors’ because they are a truly ‘independent’ person outside the care system giving the young person continuity, which is something not always possible with changing carers.
Independent Visitor (IV) Service (Action for Children)

We are Action for Children - London Independent Visitors Scheme, a project run by Action for Children. We are a national Charity and we work with Looked-After Children for some UK local authorities place across the country.

We are recruiting for a Independent visitors (Volunteers) and in the Birmingham and West Midland area, Black and ethnic minority Independent visitor are welcome to apply.
FLOW: Volunteers needed to help local children build their own woodland arts centre!

Children and their families are invited to come and build (yes, we did say build!) their own arts centre, made from recycled wood and their own imaginations! Working together with constructive play experts Woodland Tribe CIC, children will be given hammers, saws, nails, and freedom to create an extraordinary woodland arts centre, a space designed to let their imaginations take them wherever they want to go.

We have a vision where people affected by stroke help shape our decisions and support. We are looking to recruit people with lived experience of stroke to our new Midlands Stroke Voices group. We’re looking for stroke survivors and/or carers/family that would like to be part of a group shaping how the Stroke Association deliver support across the Midlands?
