Become a Birmingham Community Lottery Volunteer Champion

Do you want to help make a difference for good causes across Birmingham? Volunteer as a Lottery Champion and join us on October 9th 2024 to encourage residents to play the Birmingham Community Lottery. The Birmingham Community Lottery is an exciting weekly lottery that raises money for good causes in Birmingham. At least 60% of each ticket goes to support Birmingham, and there’s a chance to win the £25,000 jackpot every week!

What will Lottery Champions do?

Lottery Champions will take to selected streets in Birmingham City Centre on Wednesday 9th October to raise awareness of the lottery and encourage local people to play it. You will be handing out leaflets and chatting to people about the lottery, you will not be signing people up to play on the street or collecting donations. We will do our best to ensure that you are not alone and always working with at least one other volunteer. You don’t need any particular skills, just enthusiasm and availability to hand out leaflets in the city centre on October 9th 2024.

Benefits to you

Volunteering as a Lottery Champion will be a chance to:

  • Meet new people – including other organisations benefiting from the lottery
  • Support the work of great local causes – if you work or volunteer for a good cause that’s signed up to the lottery, it’s a chance to promote their lottery fund.
  • Make a difference in the city.

We ask that you:

  • Are available for a two-hour slot on Wednesday 9th October to hand out leaflets in Birmingham City Centre
  • Act with integrity and as a good Ambassador of the Birmingham Community Lottery and the good causes involved
  • Are committed and complete your volunteering activity with enthusiasm.
  • Be collaborative and inclusive, working well with other staff and volunteers, and engaging positively with the public, to achieve our goals.

In return we will:

  • Be committed to you as a volunteer and equip you with everything you need to do the role. This includes a volunteer briefing before the activity, leaflets to hand out, a form of ID to carry/wear during your volunteering, a buddy to hand out leaflets with and a designated point of contact on the day.
  • Ensure we are inclusive and enable you to effectively volunteer
  • Collaborate with you as you volunteer, answering your questions, addressing concerns and listening to feedback
  • Act with integrity as we promote the Birmingham Community Lottery, and the good causes involved.
