BAB is looking to gain a variety of expertise (not experience), as we need experts in a variety of fields to provide balanced and specific advice that's grounded in a wealth of evidence rather than just focusing on individual lives.

People are welcome to apply to one or both boards, indicating preferences, but directors have to consider balance and gaps on the boards so may ask people to consider one rather than the other.

All we ask is that anyone interested email us at [email protected] with the subject heading 'TRUSTEE APPLICATION' with a CV and cover letter explaining why they would like to be a trustee / adviser, any relevant experience, and two references.
Applications will be considered year-round but we are looking to recruit the first board this summer so please apply by July 1 to ensure your application is read in time.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Knowledge or experience that is specific to early years provision
  • Examples of professional or other related networks
  • Knowledge or experience relating to the issues that affect our service users
  • Any other skills you feel are relevant.

Some of the biggest upcoming challenges for BAB are financial security, office space, and staffing. The top issues affecting the families we support are: housing and homelessness, immigration and refugee status, domestic abuse, debt, issues with benefits / universal credit, and the rising cost of living. All trustees are subject to an interview and have to be approved by a majority of directors. If approved, we will collect references and formally appoint them at the next quarterly meeting. Each appointment is for 12 months but can be renewed.
Best of luck and please share widely,

Team BAB
