The Association of Mixed Race Families is looking for a passionate and committed volunteer to assist with an exciting new project.

The Association of Mixed Race Families in Birmingham is a small community organisation who celebrate and support mixed race families. Last Summer, we held a small online book club with local families. The families shared with each other the childrens books they enjoy featuring BAME characters.

We have recently launched a project to take this idea further by promoting the enjoyment and awareness of diverse childrens books. We believe that children from all ethnic backgrounds should enjoy books which represent our wonderfully diverse community. Throughout this year, we will be hosting a series of book clubs for children and their parents or carers over video conferencing platforms. Families will have the opportunity to learn about books featuring BAME protagonists and to meet some local authors who are creating diverse heros and heroines to inspire young people. The sessions will be fun and interactive.

If you also feel that this is an important issue and have the skills we need, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking project workers to work on this innovative new project in the following ways
Support with planning of project
Registering families for sessions
Assisting with delivery of online sessions
Collating feedback from participants
Assisting with monitoring of outcomes

Please note that this is a voluntary position. All out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

For further information or to have an informal discussion about the project and this role, please contact Jade on [email protected] or call 07957183694.
