AmbaCare Solutions CIC, Closing Date: 12 August

We are currently recruiting Volunteer Dementia Buddies to befriend people affected by dementia and/or their carers to support and help them to improve their quality of life, enabling them to live well with dementia.

Our Dementia Buddies make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by dementia. You will be allocated a number of people living with dementia who you will visit in their home. You will be a ‘friend’ finding out what the person likes to do and finding activities that can keep their mind active. It might be doing puzzles, playing dominoes, looking at old photos, listening to music – whatever works best for them. Sometimes you may ‘sit’ with the person with dementia so that their carer can go out and have some time to themselves, perhaps shopping or attending an appointment.

You just need to be a good communicator who can engage effectively with people living with dementia, in a kind, compassionate, respectful way, treating them with dignity. Some of our Dementia Buddies have lived experience of caring for someone affected by dementia, but it is not essential as you will be given full training and support to enable you to carry out the role effectively.

We would love to hear from YOU and welcome you to our team!
