Every academic year, Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES) is very fortunate to have a team of Volunteer Learning Support Assistants who are willing to dedicate their time, knowledge, and expertise to support our adult learners in achieving their personal, academic and career goals.

In celebration of Volunteers' Week 2023, we would like to acknowledge the work of our wonderful team of volunteers and thank them for their immense contributions towards the progress and achievements of our learners in various vocational and mainstream courses (at different levels from beginners to advanced) such as Maths, English, Modern Foreign Languages, ICT, Bookkeeping & Accounts, Mentoring, ESOL and SEND courses for learners with learning difficulties & disabilities, and many more. Without additional support, many learners would struggle to achieve and for this reason, the contribution of our volunteers is invaluable, and we cannot thank them enough!

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, ages, and backgrounds, with a variety of skills, qualifications and most importantly, empathy, dedication and patience for which BAES staff and learners are very appreciative.

Volunteer support has contributed immensely to learners achieving high level qualifications, essential life skills, personal goals, and progression to paid employment, as well as further education.

If you would like to join this amazing team of volunteers, please contact the BAES Volunteer Coordinator (Sona Odogwu) by email to [email protected] or visit https://www.learnbaes.ac.uk/volunteering
