• This week a Warm Welcome Network event took place at Aston Villa Football Club
  • Warm Welcome spaces are open to all and offer advice, support and community for all who need it
  • Warm Welcome is not just for the winter – so It’s not too late to become a Warm Welcome space

On  Monday (13 March 2023), the Warm Welcome Network’s members met in person for the first time, at a special event at Aston Villa Football Club.

This provided an excellent opportunity for organisations offering a Warm Welcome to connect with each other, along with local services and initiatives that can aid them in better supporting our communities.

Those who attended the event heard from Councillor John Cotton, Cabinet Member for Social Justice, Community Safety and Equalities and Richard Brooks, Director of Strategy, Equality and Partnerships, Birmingham City Council on how Warm Welcome is supporting citizens and organisations with tackling the cost of living.

There was also an update given by Fred Rattley, Chief Executive of Thrive Together Birmingham / Church of England Birmingham.

Attendees were also able to take part in an ‘eco-system hackathon’- sharing how Warm Welcome was making a difference to their communities and ideas to improve the network for the future.

A marketplace offered the opportunity for organisations to meet with other services and support, to share their experiences of delivering a Warm Welcome since the network was launched in October.
