In support of the Government’s response to the Ukraine crisis and offer to resettle Ukrainians families in the UK, Birmingham City Council and BVSC have launched a new community grants fund to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector organisations that are supporting the resettlement process across the City, and we are pleased to announce that we are currently receiving requests for proposals.

The fund is aimed at targeting and bolstering support to the rapidly growing Ukrainian community so that families and individuals can more easily navigate their way through the system of support to help build their lives in the city. Birmingham City Council is looking to invest up to £300k to support the integration of Ukraine nationals into Birmingham, enhance the building and exchange of cultural knowledge as a City of Sanctuary, and support the immediate needs of those arriving through the provision of practical information, advice and support to access services. The fund is also aimed at organisations supporting sponsors and family members who are opening their homes to refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.  This is the first phase of funding and is aimed at community organisations that have (or are building) strong links with the Ukrainian community through regular and effective communication and engagement.

We will be launching a second round of funding in the autumn aimed at smaller community organisations and groups that have (or are building) strong links with the Ukrainian community through regular and effective communication and engagement. More details will be available on this and can be found on our website in the coming weeks.
