Meetings can be tricky, and community meetings even more so; the purpose may not be clear yet, the people you want to speak may not be confident or might have particular access needs, some people take over, feelings can run high, agendas can run long, and by the end you might not be sure what’s been decided or who’s doing what.

This is a practical learning group, two sessions face to face and one on Zoom. It is for anyone who meets with citizens to understand what they need and what they want to do to make changes to things that are important to them and their communities. This will be particularly useful for participants from user-led groups who want to include every voice and will include time for you to test and tweak methods for your particular setting.

This course consists of three free practical sessions and you need to be able to attend all: 4 October (In person 09:30 - 12:45), 11 October (In person 09:30 - 12:45) and 25 October (Zoom 09:30 - 11:30).

This is for people working with communities in Birmingham. The Community Development Practice Hub aims to connect, inspire and upskill community development practitioners across Birmingham.

Booking does not necessarily guarantee you a place. We're trying to get a mix of organisations on the course and will confirm ASAP. But we will be planning more of these sessions in the autumn along with other training and support for community development.
