Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course developed by MHFA England, this course is for anyone wishing to become a Mental Health First Aider. The online course teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health, gain the confidence to act promptly and the skills to guide someone towards the right help.

In the same way as people are trained to provide first aid for physical illnesses and injuries, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England courses provide training for the public in how to spot signs of mental health issues and provide first aid support.

The courses provide people with skills such as non-judgemental listening and the knowledge and confidence to guide a person to appropriate sources of professional support. Such early intervention can reduce distress, help to preserve life, and empower a person experiencing mental ill health to get support for recovery.

Everyone who completes the course receives:

• A certificate of attendance to say you are a Mental Health First Aider
• A manual
• A quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan
• A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health

The course costs £220 per person (recommended price is £300)

A recent testimonal

"Jo-Anne was an excellent trainer; patient, engaging and knowledgeable. She gave us time to share our lived experienced, process some hard topics and was open to discussion and vulnerability. The content was great; it covered all the areas that I would expect and enabled us to apply the ALGEE process with interesting and realistic case studies. It was great to also consider the impact and need to manage our own mental health and wellness., It feel like I can support those with mental health concerns, diagnosed or pre-diagnosis, a lot better now."

This is an online course delivered through the MHFA England Online Learning Hub. The learning takes place through four live training sessions, spread across two weeks, with self-learning activities in between. We have dates available in March, April, May and June.

This course is facilitated by Noah’s Star which is a charity that provides support to premature and sick babies and their families. All their profit is reinvested back into the organisation to support families of premature and sick babies. By working with Noah’s Star you contribute to this impact too.
