FareShare Midlands is delighted to announce that we are delivering our new I-CAN employability programme, which will be a six-week blended course of classroom and work experience-based learning to help individuals develop the skills, knowledge and experience they require to enter training and/or employment in the warehousing and logistics sector.

  • Are you over 29?
  • Do you have the right to live and work in the UK?
  • Do you want to gain the skills, knowledge and experience to jump-start a career in the warehousing and logistics sector?
  • Are you able to commit to a six-week structured programme?

About the employability programme:

The programme will consist of 2 weeks of classroom training, which will take place between 10 am-2 pm, where participants can expect to lean about their strengths and interests, soft skills, CV writing, interview technique, advanced job search, registering with recruiters, interview technique, health and safety and food hygiene.

Following this, you will complete 4 weeks of structured work experience as a warehouse operative in FareShare depot helping to distribute food to frontline charities. You will have an all-around work experience, assisting the warehouse team to unload deliveries and store goods, pick and pack goods for distribution and deliver goods. You will work one of two shift patterns: the early shift, which is 8 am – 1 pm, or the late shift, which is 12 pm – 5 pm. After two weeks working the one shift pattern, you will swap to the other.

For the entirety of the six-week programme, Fridays will be dedicated job search days, where you will be able to use our computer suite to search and apply for employment and training opportunities with the support of the employability coach.
