Do you have an interest in serving your community? If the answer is YES, please keep reading.

Established in 1991, the Stechford Village Neighbourhood Forum is one of the oldest 'residents associations' in Birmingham with a proud history & tradition of undertaking community work. 2021 is a major celebratory milestone for the Stechford Forum as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary undertaking community work.

Since the date of its establishment, the SVNF has remained an ‘unincorporated constituted group’ supported in part by the local council to support residents. As part of our constitution, we hold regular monthly OPEN RESIDENT MEETINGS including one as an Annual General Meeting. We lobby a lot and are behind major campaigns in STECHFORD, namely 'STECHFORD IN BLOOM', the 'BIG LUNCH', the 'BIG TIDY UP', 'STATION ADOPTERS' group, new PLANNING APPLICATIONS and so much more.

The principles of social justice run through everything we do. We are inclusive and value diversity in all its forms. We have a clear strategy in place and our regular monthly resident meetings are a safe space to discuss the hard hitting issues that have been magnified since the Covid pandemic started such as community cohesion, food insecurity, isolation, loneliness, mental health, social housing, fly tipping, anti-social behaviour etc. These are just some of our social justice discussions that contribute to ensuring that we deliver projects for all of our residents (irrespective of background or protected characteristic).

It is safe to say that with a proud 30-year history of community activism, we have become the ‘go to people’ in the Stechford community. We are trusted & non-partisan, knowledgeable about need, critically understand who is involved in what & are uniquely best placed to bring people & resources together so to further enhance / upscale our future projects.

It is therefore with great pleasure we wish to announce three new exciting volunteer role opportunities.
1 - Stechford Village Forum Group Chairperson,
2 - Stechford Village Forum Group Secretary &
3 - Stechford Village Forum Group Treasurer.

No formal experience is required for any of these voluntary positions, however an interest in Community & supporting Stechford's Green Spaces would be desirable.

So if you would like to make 'a real difference in the community, please do email your expression of interest & somebody from the forum team we will get back to you asap.

NB* We hope that formal appointments to these key roles will be confirmed at our next forum meeting scheduled on Thursday 1st July @ 7:30 pm.
