Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre
Administrative Assistant
Woodbrooke was founded in 1903 as a response to the educational needs of a religious society – Quakers, or the Religious Society of Friends – which has no paid ministers or other leaders. It was felt essential that the membership should be as well informed as possible, which led George Cadbury to offer his home for the purpose of educating Quakers and others.
In 1999 Woodbrooke laid down its term-based pattern of study in favour of a year-round programme of short courses and made its facilities more widely available. It has gradually, over the past eight years, expanded its programme of off-site courses, and has grown its conferencing/meeting business considerably. Most of our conference customers come from the ‘third sector’, representing charitable and ‘not for profit’ organisations.
The Administration Office at Woodbrooke is a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role of Administrative Assistant is varied, reflecting the wide range of Woodbrooke’s functions. The post holder will be required to provide as part of the Administration Team, the full range of administrative services in support of Woodbrooke’s teaching, residential and conference work.
The ideal candidate is needed to take on responsibilities for all general administration duties, including customer service, reception and all aspects of processing bookings for course participants, bed and breakfast visitors and conference guests. This is a 31.5 hour a week temporary post, contracted until 2 July 2010 (with the possibility of extension) and a salary starting at £14,724, pro rata.
Closing date: Wednesday 10 February, 10am. Interviews: Friday 12 February
