A set of three Masterclasses aimed at CEOs, trustees and senior staff in charities and not for profit organisations. Each Masterclass can be attended as part of the set of three or as a stand alone event.

Moving into income generation

Location: Birmingham
Date: 17 February 2010

Overview

In these turbulent times what can you be doing differently to ensure that your organisation is robust enough to not just weather the storm but to thrive? Focusing on your issues this Masterclass will look at the following topics:-

•diversifying your income streams;
•working out what’s right for your organisation;
•avoiding pitfalls and making the most of trading, borrowing money, etc;
•what “enterprise” could mean for your organisation.
Led by consultants and lawyers from both ACEVO and Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP, this session will give you access to experienced practitioners who have seen life in the third sector from all angles who will help you to:-

People,  premises and public relations- making the most of your assets

As you try and balance the competing interests of increasing demands, plus the possibility of reduced funding and yet maintaining quality, we take a look at how you can make the most of your greatest assets: your people, your premises and your reputation.  Focusing on your issues this Masterclass will look at the following topics:-

•your responsibilities to others in leading an organisation;
•top tips for managing your staff, your volunteers and your board;
•getting the most property whilst minimising your outgoings; and
•demonstrating effectiveness to your donors, funders and stakeholders.

Working in partnership with the public sector

As the complexities for engaging with the public sector increase, along with the necessity to do so, we engage in considering how to maximise the benefits of relationship with the public sector in navigating the new landscape. In addressing issues faced by delegates we will consider:

•the diverse nature of the public sector and its ‘drivers’
•implications for the third sector in changes to public sector engagement
•the essentials of procurement
•the impact of the personalisation agenda
Led by consultants and lawyers from both ACEVO and Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP, this session will be led by practitioners with experience of public sector, third sector and the interface between the two. They will help you:

•position your organisation to maximise the benefit of relationship with the public sector
•evaluate the impact of public sector ‘drivers’
