Quality First

A quality assurance system for voluntary and community organisations

Quality First is designed to support groups that want to play a part in developing their communities without becoming managers or employers of funded organisations.

Designed purely for organisations that are staffed by volunteers, Quality First helps you set out your aims as an organisation and focus on achieving them. The system enables you to monitor and review your progress and to see improvements as a result.

The Quality First workbook shows you how to develop a quality system based on continuing self-assessment in nine quality areas. Each section guides you through the questions you need to ask and gives you a practical way of collecting evidence to show you are doing what you say you do. 

Easy-to-use format

The Quality First workbook comes in an easy-to-read ringbinder with full instructions and photocopy-friendly work sheets. It has been piloted with a number of small organisations run by volunteers.

Now used internationally

Quality First has also been successfully adopted by Non-Governmental Organisations in Russia and other countries developing an NGO sector.
