Health & Social Care Champion update

The personalisation sub group reconvened after a considerable gap and had a useful meeting where we pooled information and concerns and agreed to email Birmingham City Council with points that needed clarification prior to a presentation on personalisation from their Business Transformation Dept at the next Assembly meeting on September 18th [now rescheduled to 21st September].

The Network was pleased to be involved in planning and attending (along with our colleagues from Sandwell) Sandwell & West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group’s Voluntary Sector engagement event on June 25th.  Members provided case studies to demonstrate how their services could save time and money for GPs as well as improving prevention and patient care.

The Network wants to set up a reference group with representatives for a number of themes and areas of interest (for example older people, mental health, disability, long term conditions, personalisation – other suggestions welcome) which would meet regularly with the Network Champion.  If this is something you’d be interested in please download an expression of interest form and return to Nora Darby at norad@bvsc.org.

I work with private and third sector clients, do you feel the move towards a 'Birmingham Living Wage' of £7.20 will have an impact on Care Providers, taking advantage of the 'Community Right to Challenge', who want to deliver social care services?
